Southern & Eastern Counties Competition

Proctor's Sausages have been voted Supreme Sausage Champion at the inaugural Southern and Eastern Meat Products Awards. They will now compete in the Champions of Champions Competition in January 2005.

The winning sausage was the Old English Breakfast sausage made with free range Suffolk pork. Proctors make over 40 sausage varieties using pork, venison, wild boar, beef, duck and chicken. All are hand linked in natural skins and have a meat content of at least 75%.

The competition was sponsored by the British Pig Executive (BPEX). 45 butchers entered more than 185 products in six different categories: Pork Sausages, Speciality Sausages, Speciality Pies, Bacon, Gammon and Ready Meals.

Trophies were also presented to winners in each of the six categories. Winning entries were Caribbean Pork Sausages from J.C Rook & Sons, Kent; a Turkey and Ham Pie and a Bangers & Mash Ready Meal from Hepburns of Shenfield, Essex; Home Cured Bacon from Roger Kelsey of Shenfield, Essex; Pork Sausage, from Procter's Speciality Sausages, Ipswich; Home Cured Gammon from Hepburn's of Mountnessing, Essex.
