2006 Champion of Champions

Hinchcliffes Farm Shop officially make the best sausage in the country!

On Sunday afternoon they won the much coveted Champions of Champions competition beating 36 other award winning sausages. They were picked by a panel of tasters beating 36 other major competition winners from 2005 at the Foodex/Meatex exhibition held at the NEC.

Hinchcliffes have been a rising star on the sausage competititon circuit (yes there is one!) recently winning the 2005 National Sasuage competition. They are now one of our Top 10 producers.

They can now look forward to a 400% increase in sales and a lot of media attention. We will feature them in Sausage of the Week in early April.

Sausage and pie tastings

Its a hard life but somebody had to do it!

As well as the Champions of Champions competition a national product evaluation took place on Sunday. Any independent butcher or producer could enter and 97 pies and 234 sausages were prodded, cut up, tasted and finally marked (and only a few were spat out).

The best pie was from Cam Family Butchers of Dursley near Gloucestershire.

The best sausage from Northern Ireland hailed from McElroy Brothers Butchers of Newry, County Down.

The best sausage from Scotland was made by James Pirie & Son of Newtyle
Nr Dundee.

F R Kennedy & Son of Holywell, Flintshire made the best sausage from Wales.

The best sausage from England and overall winner was made by PJ Howarth and Son from Flixton, Manchester.
