Piperfield won silver and bronze at the 2003 Great Taste Awards. They produce top quality sausages from a small herd of outdoor reared, Middle White pigs. The Middle White is a rare breed and is often known as the Yorkshire Pig because it is said to have originated in Keighley (home of Jack Scaife ). The Piperfield herd is closed - this means that all stock is pure bred and fully traceable.
As well as the plain pork which won the Silver award, they make Pork & Garlic, Pork, Leek & Garlic and an Air Dried Chorizo which won a Bronze award.
They sell via mail order, food fairs nationally and at markets throughout Northumberland.
I can't claim to be an expert on all things sausage, but I do know what I like. I like these sausages. A lot.
Air dried chorizo a delight.
Great sausages and bacon, and fantastic chorizo - we liked it so much we went back and bought 20 of them, which are hanging in our kitchen. Also, Graham is a very nice guy, and our daughter loved meeting the pigs!
Great sausages, and really great chorizo. If you get the chance buy some of the chorizo. Very tasty.
