Anyone with young children will find this a welcome stop. Opposite the farm shop they have a field with a herd of very friendly and inquisitive donkeys. Inside they sell a wide range of food, often local and organic. They are very friendly (sometimes missing in organic shops) and keen to talk about the food, where it comes from and what it is like.
Meat is fresh and frozen, most of it is reared on the farm and sent away for fattening and butchering, however they have plans to rear pigs on the farm.
They have a wide range of sausages made from pork, lamb and beef costing around £6 per kg (lots with fruit). We tried the beef burgers (£2.91 for 4) and the Old English sausages. Both are excellent, they cook without filling the pan with grease but are still moist. The sausages are chunky and well seasoned. They obviously make a wide selection and have 'specials' - when we went in mid March they were selling 6 Nation Sausages (re the 6 Nation rugby). As well as meat they sell bread, cake, fruit, jams, sauces, local organic flour and an excellent range of cheese (mostly local including a superb Waterloo) plus Montgomery cheddar from Somerset (because it's good!).
One of those places where you drop in for 1 or 2 items and do half a weeks shopping. They were commended in the 2004 Organic Food Awards (Local Food Initiative)
