Lincolnshire butchers are mounting a campaign to obtain protected status for Lincolnshire sausages. They cite supermarkets who sell "Lincolnshire" sausages made all over the country.

At the moment, sausages made anywhere can be labelled as Lincolnshire, but now local firm George Adams has sent letters to more than 100 butchers, asking them to lobby the European Parliament in the hope of gaining protected status, meaning Lincolnshire sausages would have to be made in Lincolnshire from Lincolnshire produce.

What do you think? Should we protect the Lincolnshire sausage? If so what about Melton Mowbray pork pies, Cornish Pasties and Cumberland sausages?
