Max Mason, owner of The Big Bang in Walton Street, Oxford, believes single parents work twice as hard so he thinks they should be allowed to celebrate both Mothers and Fathers Day.
Max says: “One of my good friends is a single mum and she is both an excellent mother and father to her children.
“I want to give single parents a break from all the hard work they do and let us cook them a delicious meal for £5.99 with a free dessert given to all Children who take the initiative and bring their parents out for lunch”
The Big Bang serves traditional home-cooked British food, such as lamb and mint sausages served with spring onion mash to chicken, broccoli and stilton pie. Desserts range from rhubarb pie with custard to a creamy rice pudding with brandied sultanas.
But single mums watching their waistline may prefer the new seasonal additions to the menu; Greek salad, a stilton, walnut and apple salad, or a sausage, potato and coriander salad all served with a freshly baked baguette and lettuce.
The restaurant is fully licensed, serving traditional wines and ales from the local Hook Norton Brewery.
