Dennis Spurr believes in making sausages fun.

With Weymouth & Portland selected as the venue for the 2012 Olympic Games sailing competitions, the Dorset sausage entrepreneur is already thinking of creating an Olympic sausage.

Outside his shop in Weymouth's main shopping street, Dennis has a new sign- the five Olympic rings in sausages. It's already attracting lots of attention. Standing in St. Mary Street giving out hot samples of his incredible range of 20 home-made sausages, he makes lots of new friends. Locals and holidaymakers alike might sample the "Vampire Slayer" one day and the "Tom Jones" the next day.

Starting at 7am, five days a week, he creates 20 varieties of deliciously traditional sausages at the back of the Weymouth shop. All the meat comes from Somerset and is fully traceable.
Among old favourites are Olde English, a tasty blend of herbs and spices with prime pork. Reading the menu of 20 sausages makes you feel hungry. The varieties (but perhaps not the names) are stunning - The Tom Jones - pork & leek, The Godfather - pork, tomato and herbs, the Calcutta Corker - "your favourite curry in a sausage." Then there's Cumberland, Wurzel, Vampire Slayer, Peking Porker, Hell's Angels and many more.

In 1997, he opened the shop in Dorchester, followed by the Weymouth shop the next year.

The Fantastic Sausage Factory is at 37 St. Mary Street, Weymouth, Dorset and 14 Hardye Arcade, Dorchester, Dorset. Tel. 01305 766212 and 268465.
