West Midlands Tastiest Sausages 2007

The grand final of the 6th West Midlands Tastiest Sausage competition took place last Thursday (25 January).

This is organised by Heart of England Fine Foods and covers the 6 counties of the West Midlands plus Birmingham. As this area is home to 5 million people and some of the finest sausage producers in the country it is a major trophy with over 70 butchers and farm shops competing.

The overall winner was The Parsons Nose from Suckley in Worcestershire for their Traditional Pork Breakfast Sausage. The Parsons Nose make over 60 types of sausage from rare breed Large Black and Gloucester Old Spot pigs (these are endangered breeds which produce lower yeilds but better tasting meat).

The specality sausages was won by Wenlock Edge Farm with a Pork, Cheddar & Mustard sausage.

Both will be featured in forthcoming Sausage Of The Week features.
