Broom Mill pigs are kept in high welfare conditions either outside or in open barns. They sell sausages, bacon and pork through mail order and at farmers markets throughout the North East. Recent awards included a Gold for smoked bacon at the 2003 and 2004 Great Taste Awards. They have recently launched a new range of "Boozy bangers" made with port, brown ale and champagne. Watch out for my favourite, the Pork, Port and Stilton. They contain around 80% shoulder meat and cost £2 per pack.
I bought Black pudding and apple Pork Sausages at the Gateshead Flower Show way back in the summer. I have only just eaten them out of the freezer. They were magnificent, quite my favourite sausage of all time.

I happened to be in Newcastle on Friday and caught the Farmers'' Market at the Monument just as people were packing up for the day. There was only one tray of the Broom Mill black-pudding and apple sausages left so I bought them. In a word, they were WONDERFUL. I shall be following their stall around the various markets in future.
Toulouse sausages bought at Darlington Farmers Market were absolutely delicious. We now intend to try the other varieties.
Great sausages, always trying the different sausages from a great range. Bacon fabulous as well.

These are the only sausages that we eat now! They really are super and very tasty. Unfortunatley my monthly trips to the farmers market have had to stop, becuase I''ve got a new job which means I''m working then. My ''deputy'' sometimes remembers to pop round at lunchtime to get some. However absence makes the heart grow fonder! Yummy
